Wyke Marine have a proven track record in the operation of this service. It is cost effective, it enhances the quality of service offered by the Line to its customers, and above all it works.
Having being associated with the cocoa trade for so many years Wyke Marine know all the key personnel, and more importantly we have gained their respect. Our service is available nationwide and in the last 12 months we have operated in Liverpool, Teesside, Felixstowe, Thamesport, Birmingham, Shropshire, Essex, Kent, North Wales as well as Yorkshire and Humberside. We also operate widely in Europe, with operations concentrated in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Wyke Marine monitor well over 70% of the UK bagged cocoa imports on behalf of client shipping lines and would like to get nearer the 100% mark as it will significantly strengthen our negotiating arm when dealing with loss and damage claims against clients.
Wyke Marine's service comes in two parts :
Wyke Marine visit the vessel at the discharge port and carry out a full outturn survey report with regard to the cocoa consignments.
The report identifies and describes any problems that have occurred on sea passage and/or during the discharge of the vessel.
The report also has an ancillary benefit that the information it contains can often be helpful in dealing with other cargo claims not related to cocoa.

At the completion of a vessel's deliveries to the receivers' warehouses a comprehensive report is complied and issued by Wyke Marine, whose staff have attended throughout. The report gives an overall and detailed view of the cocoa's condition, count, damages and any claims the receivers may pursue.
If a receiver or underwriter appoints their own surveyor Wyke Marine liaise and work with them so as to protect the Line's interests. This intervention as surveyors is also fully documented in the final report.

Each part is specifically planned and managed for the sole objective of guarding the interests of the shipping line on-site and in doing so negating or minimising claims, whatever reason they are based on, and from wherever they originate.
Clients have the option of instructing Wyke Marine for one or both parts of the service for each vessel and voyage.
